Few signatures are sought after quite like that of America’s 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. Offered here is a choice example, graded MINT 9 by the experts of PSA/DNA, this one page, front and back, 10” x 7.75” war dated partly printed signed pardon document stands as one of the finest graded examples of Lincoln to ever surface! Dated December 22nd 1863, this signed pardon stands as the remission of “the fine and cost imposed upon Maria Coffman, alias, Philips.” Due to the personal nature of warrants/pardons these signed documents remain extremely scarce compared to signed military appointments which surface with Lincoln's signature. Adding to the allure of this document is the fact that it is written for the remission of penalties imposed on a woman, Maria Coffman (Phillips). One the reserve side of the document reads in full “22 Dec 1863 Pardon of Maria Coffman, alias Phillips”. An interesting “Hudson” watermark can also be seen on the reverse when held in the light, presumed to be from the Hudson Bay Company, the oldest commercial company in North America, and one of the oldest in the World. Overall the document stands in excellent condition with two vertical folds, one vertical fold/crease, and minimal soiling to the top right corner of the document. Without a doubt a must have to any historical collector! Full letter of authenticity & grading from PSA/DNA with a MINT 9 grading of the signature.
