SCARCE Photo from Apollo 11's Recovery Signed by The Crew & President Nixon!10" x 8" official color NASA photograph featuring President Richard Nixon during his visit with the Apollo 11 crew aboard the USS Hornet, July 24, 1969. Immediately upon splashing down from their historic lunar mission, the Apollo 11 crew was recovered by the USS Hornet in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Hawaii and were put in a custom built quarantine cabin designed by Airstream. Waiting on the ship with the press and his entourage, President Nixon was on hand for the historic event and to greet the brave heroes back from the amazing journey.
Capturing the historic event, this photo is impressively signed by all four men featured, including Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Michael Collins (inscribed "Best wishes to John Jacob") and President Richard Nixon. The photo showcases an official NASA stamping on the verso. Some moderate handling wear, including a prominent vertical creasing which intersects Armstrong's signature, however not affecting the iconic astronaut's bold scripting. Some minor smudging to President Nixon's autograph. In overall good condition. While signed Apollo 11 photographs are desirable in any form, an official NASA photograph of this nature that also includes President Nixon is of extraordinary rarity and stands as one of just a couple authentic examples that we've ever seen.
