This 1948 Leaf Gum Co. #3 card was the last major card to feature Babe Ruth. While it was technically manufactured after his playing days, the card is not treated as such. On June 13, 1948, Ruth made his last appearance at Yankee Stadium. Weakened by cancer, Ruth could barely stand, leaning on a bat to keep him steady on his feet. On August 16, 1948, the world lost The Sultan of Swat for good. In its own way, this card represents a final farewell to the greatest slugger in baseball history. To put Ruth's sheer domination into perspective, consider this - Babe Ruth hit more home runs, by himself, than every entire team in the American League in both 1920 and 1927. Although this card does have condition issues and grades at a mere "1" from SGC, any original Babe Ruth card is worthy of investment! Encapsulated by SGC.
