Mickey Mantle was, quite simply, one of the best baseball players of his generation and one of the greatest members ever of the New York Yankees organization. A rookie in 1951, Mantle would play 18 seasons with the Bronx Bombers and finish his Hall of Fame career in 1968 with 536 home runs, 1,509 runs batted in, and a career batting average of .298. He slugged his way through an incredible career and is now a legend. What better way to remember a batting legend, then, than with something such as this 1953 game used Louisville Slugger Hillerich & Bradley model K55 Mickey Mantle professional model baseball bat? The ash beauty is uncracked and shows evidence of outstanding use. There are numerous ball marks and ball stitch impressions visible on the barrel, as well as cleat marks and blue bat rack streaks. Some checks on the barrel from repeated ball contact has been repaired and the finish has been brushed with a light coat of urethane, otherwise the bat remains unblemished since The Mick's use of it. The C15A center brand indicates that it was manufactured by H&B between 1950 and 1960, while a small dimple on the center brand dates the bat specifically to 1953. This is a fantastic relic from Mantle's early playing days - don't miss out on this opportunity to own a true piece of baseball history! Accompanied by a full Letter of Grading & Authenticity from John Taube/PSA/DNA, who has given the bat an incredible grade of GU 8.5!
