Simply known as "The Big Red Machine," the Reds, included Johnny Bench for 17 seasons all while they were the toast of the National League, and Bench enjoyed a like status in the Queen City. While the Reds dominated during those 17 years, 1973-75 saw the ultimate success, leading to the Reds first Championship since 1940 in 1975, the year the Big Red Machine cemented their place in history. Offered here is an H&B, "B278" signature model bat wielded by the Hall of Famer during the prime of his career & the Reds success. The 35.5", 31.2-oz. white ash weapon, slightly cracked (grain speration) at the back barrel, features a defined centerbrand and barrel stampings and hails from the 1973-75 manufacturing period. The item reveals evidence of heavy use, with ball, cleat, stitch, bat rack along with an impressive amount of pine tar applied to the handle. It's worth noting the picture listed is from the 1975 season & shows eerily similar pine tar patterns near the handle. Simply one of the best Bench gamers to ever be offered to the public! Authenticated & graded perfect GU 10 by PSA/DNA.
