This 2008 LAD 50th Anniversary First Base has been personally signed by Clayton Kershaw in black ink. This base was used in play on August 1, 2008 during a game between the Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks. This game saw the a memorable matchup between Hall of Famer Randy Johnson and future HOFer Clayton Kershaw, with Johnson edging out a 2-1 victory in a well pitched matchup.
During the game, two notable feats happened. First, Johnson threw his 2,000th career strikeout as a Diamondback, making him the first player in MLB history to throw 2,000 strikeouts with two different teams (Seattle & AZ). Secondly, this game would serve as Manny Ramirez's first ever game in a Dodger uniform, making this the first base that Ramirez would ever touch during his memorable run in Dodger blue.
The base is accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from JSA for the autograph and a serial-numbered authentication hologram from MLB Authentication. A great game used signed relic from Kershaw's rookie season!
