Nobel prize winning mathematical physicist recognized as "Person of the 20th Century". TLS "A. Einstein", 8" x 11", April 20 1937 on official Institute For Advanced Study School of Mathematics Princeton stationery to Dr. Hugo Iltis sending thank you for "your splendid little book. I shall forward it at once to the publisher Norton who already had brought out a book of yours...", in German accompanied by English translation & vintage, 1936, German advertisement publicizing Iltis' book, 6" x 9.25". Of historical note Czech Iltis (1882-1952) founded Masaryk People's University in 1921, serving as Director until fleeing in 1938, outspoken opponent of the German Nazi Party Iltis lectured against Nazi race theories & published 3 books denouncing Nazi genetics including "The Myth of Blood and Race" (1936). That year Einstein wrote Iltis telling him he read the book, stating "If the majority of the German intellectuals would have shown as much courage and respect for the truth...the whole nation would have been saved from plunging into such an abyss". In this letter Einstein thanks Iltis for copy of his book & states that he will send copy to W.W. Norton & Co hoping they would publish an English translation (earlier Norton published an English translation of Iltis' "Life of Mendel"). Letter features a rich black ink signature from Einstein and stands in excellent condition. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
