Typed letter signed "Harry S. Truman," one page, 7.25" x 10.5", personal letterhead, January 22, 1955. Interesting letter in which Truman responds to a previous letter received from an admirer regarding Reverend John Chivington (who led the Massacre at Sand Creek) and Custer's Last Stand. Truman writes, in part, "A great many people were never familiar with the fact that the old man was a tough hombre. I think that Paul Wellman is correct in his diagnosis of the massacre which Chivington put on Custer's Last Stand." Nicely hand signed at the conclusion in a rich black ink and in excellent condition. COA from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
