Under his presidency, he annexed Texas to help strengthen and preserve the Union. 8” x 10” manuscript appointment (written in another hand) signed by Tyler during his presidency with a Nm to Mint signature. Reads in full: “I hereby appoint McClintock Young to perform the duties of Secretary of the Treasury during the absence of the Hon. Walter Forward from the city of Washington. June 30th 1984”. The reverse is also dated “30 June ‘42” with “Recorded in the department of state” written in an unknown hand. Two storage folds and exhibits handling wear- scattered foxing and soiling, paper clip rust mark on the reverse, ink fingerprint on reverse. Very Good condition. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
