Offered here is a free-franked envelope, measuring 3.5" x 8" and addressed to the Hon. Gideon Welles of Hartford, CT, an avid supporter of Polk in the 1844 election (and future U.S. Secretary of the Navy). Franked in the upper right, "Free, J.K. Polk." In good condition, with some creasing/wrinkling to the right side and a vertical fold in the left side. Authenticated & encapsulated by PSA/DNA.
