This is a very important second-year issue of Mickey Mantle; it is also one of his best looking cards. In 1952, Mantle gained a little more experience, and it showed at the plate, as he hit .311 with 23 home runs and 94 runs scored. It would be the first time Mantle would appear in the All-Star Game as well. The very next year, Mantle would begin a run of nine straight seasons of 100 runs scored or more as a part of the powerful Yankee lineup. This particular card is one that has seemingly been overlooked throughout the years. With so much attention given to his classic 1952 Topps card, a card with a larger format and part of a much more intriguing set, the Bowman Mantle remains underappreciated. The gap in market value between the two cards has become astronomical, giving collectors a more affordable alternative with this great card. Adding to the appeal of the card is that this one has been boldly signed by The Mick in black felt tip marker on the front. Authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA.
