Partly-printed 21 x 16 1898 document signed as president. President McKinley appoints Richard Comba as “Colonel of Infantry in the service of the United States.” Crisply signed at the conclusion by President McKinley and countersigned by Secretary of War Russel A. Alger. The blue seal affixed to the lower left remains intact with dings to a few points. Overall in fine condition with a slight tear to the upper left corner. Comba first enlisted in the military in 1855 and was a career soldier, he went on to fight in the West as command officer in the famed Col. John Gibbons Montana Column which participated in both the Battle of the Little Big Horn and the Battle of the Big Hole. AUthenticated by PSA/DNA with a full letter of authenticity.
