Amelia Earhart was an American aviation pioneer and author. She was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. During an attempt to make a circumnavigational flight of the globe in 1937 (at 40 years old) in a Lockheed Model 10 Electra, Earhart disappeared over the central Pacific Ocean near Howland Island, never to be seen or heard from again. This incredibly rare check, dated April 19, 1935 and made out to United Air Services for the amount of $379.05 has been signed by Amelia Earhart in black ink at the bottom. United Air Services (U.A.S.) was the company owned by Earhart's partner, Paul Mantz, from which he controlled and operated the short-lived Earhart-Mantz Flying School beginning in 1935. Amelia also hangared the Lockheed that would eventually carry her to her disappearance at U.A.S., which was just across the street from the Burbank Airport. Check shows appropriate cancellation stampings and has one vertical crease. The name of the bank and the city (Burbank, CA) have been crossed out and replaced with "New York, NY". Overall in fine condition. This is an extraordinarily unique piece with meaningful history behind it. Authenticated & encapsulated by PSA/DNA.
Amelia Earhart ULTRA RARE Signed Bank Check to United Air Services - One of Just a Few Known to Exist! (PSA/DNA Encapsulated)
