Mel Ott played his entire 22-year career for the New York Giants from 1926-1947. He was one of the most feared power hitters of his time, leading the National League in home runs six times, and he was the first National League player to hit 500 home runs. A 12-time National League All-Star, he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1951. Ott died in an automobile accident in 1958 at the age of 49, making his signed material an always desired commodity. Offered here is a seldom seen signed baseball (ONL - Ford Frick) signed by Mel Ott in black ink. The ball exhibits toning all across the surface and is also signed by one other unknown player on the opposite side panel, however Ott's signature displays alone very nicely. Accompanied by full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
