Offered here is a 2-page (front and back) ALS measuring 7.75" x 8.25" and dated October 11, 1828, handwritten by 9th President of the United States William Henry Harrison during his time as the U.S. Minister to Gran Colombia. The letter to his son contains outstanding content witnessing an early example of the spoils system at work. Reads, in part, "...I left my sword at your house...inform Mr. Spencer that his son will receive his appointment as Surgeon...I think he will be the first that is appointed...I will like to know the result of all the Elections as soon as you can get them...". Harrison signs at the conclusion "W.H. Harrison". His signature as well as his entire letter are dark and bold, with some bleed through. In overall great condition. A highly rare and valuable collectible! Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
