Summoned from his rural Oklahoma surroundings to succeed Joe DiMaggio in the Big Apple, Mickey Mantle did so with aplomb, setting records for Fall Classic home runs and round-trippers from both sides of the plate. Offered here is a Mitchell & Ness Yankees home jersey signed by Mantle with him adding No.7 in blue felt tip marker. The apparel is tailored to match the Commerce Comet's 1951 rookie jersey (as evidenced by the American League "GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY" patch on the left sleeve. With the club's traditional blue pinstriped pattern, the flannel garment features the overlapping "NY" logo sewn to the left breast in felt characters. Just below the logo, Mantle's black marker signature trumpets "10" strength and clarity. An incredibly attractive piece.
