Johnny Sain was a true pitching star for the post-war Boston Braves. In the years immediately following World War II, he won 100 games for the Braves, and took the distinction of being not only the last pitcher to face Babe Ruth, but the first pitcher in the Major League to pitch against Jackie Robinson. Appropriately, offered here is an Official National League (Coleman) baseball commemorating the 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson's Major League debut, signed by Sain in blue ballpoint pen, with the pitcher adding 6 unique inscriptions! Inscriptions include "9 World Series"; "6 World Champs"; "Pray for Rain"; "First pitch to Jackie Robinson 4-15-47"; "War Benefit Game"; and "Last pitch to Babe Ruth Yankee Stadium 7/28/43". In overall fine condition. Accompanied by a COA from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
