From a controversial figure in the world of organized crime, this incredible handwritten letter was penned by James "Whitey" Bulger. Bulger was the leader of the Boston Irish Mob crew known as the Winter Hill Gang and was later an FBI informant. Indicted for 19 murders and dozens of other felonies, Bulger was sentenced to two consecutive life terms plus five years. On the back of this 3.5" x 5" mugshot of fellow prisoner Jack Twining, Bulger writes, in part, "Jack Twining one of my best friends in prison - were in Atlanta - in Alcatraz - Jack killed Mollet a usual predator - Good Riddance. This is last photo of Jack alive. Released from prison after about 14 years - His life started in orphange - than on down grade." Bulger goes onto list the major events of Twining's life that led to his eventual demise, ending with "RIP Jack Peace at last, never had a chance or good day!" He signed the note "James Whitey Bulger 1428-AZ" (1428-AZ was Bulger's inmate number). On the side of the letter reads, "On internet check Highway Patrol men, 4 killed story Newhall incident". In overall fine condition, this handwritten memento shows a unique perspective from one lifelong criminal on the life of another. Authenticated & encapsulated by Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
