An extremely rare autograph from naturalist, biologist, and arguably the father of the theory of evolution, Charles Darwin - best known for his essay "On the Origin of Species" and his theory of evolution by natural selection. Darwin in 1856 would take a particular liking to cats, working on his 'big species book,' citing the exact article asked for in this desirable 7" x 5" hand written & signed letter by Charles Darwin. Letter reads in full: "The Bearer has called for the Books." Darwin's addition of "over" to the lower right corner reveals additional notations, "Will you please also send me Isis Band XXI Heft II and Isis 1828 H. 2. (I daresay this is the same volume.)—Also Isis 1828 VI, p.639, Brehm, Abstammung der Hauskatze." In fine condition, with intersecting folds, minor paper loss due to mounting & surface impressions. A very rare offering featuring research texts for one of the most accredited scientist in history! Authenticated by Beckett/BAS with a full letter of authenticity.
