One of the greatest players of all time interacts with one of the greatest managers of all time in this 8.5" x 11" letter from Honus Wagner to Connie Mack, dated June 23, 1952. Although both legends spent time with the Pittsburgh Pirates, their paths never crossed, as by the time Wagner started playing for them, Mack had moved onto what ended up being a 50 year tenure with the Philadelphia Athletics. Despite never having worked together, it did not keep Mack from recognizing Wagner's contribution to the game. In this letter, Honus Wagner regretfully declines the invitation that Connie Mack extended to him for a luncheon honoring the 17 members (Wagner included) selected for the 50 year baseball team organized by Mack. A warm interaction between two legends, Wagner extends his deepest regrets that he is under the advisement from his doctor not to travel at the time. The letter has been signed in black felt tip marker at the conclusion, "Honus Wagner". In fine condition with minor handling wear. Accompanied by a full Ltter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
