One of the most sought-after documents of baseball's early days, "The Book of Baseball" explores baseball's roots in the 1830s, the origins of the National and American leagues, the art of pitching, star plays and players, umpiring, the minor leagues, and many other aspects of our national pastime. One of the key players in the early days of the Major Leagues was Walter Johnson, who made his Major League debut in 1907 with the Washington Senators and remained with the team for all 21 years of his playing career. He went onto manage the Senators from 1929-1932 and the Indians from 1933-1935 before finally retiring. Offered here is a hard cover edition of "The Book of Baseball", signed by Johnson on the inside page in which he is described under the heading "The Art of Pitching". The book exhibits water damage to the top and bottom, with some of Johnson's inscription and signature being slightly affected, although still completely bold and legible. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
