In the early 1990's there simply wasn't a bigger band on earth than Nirvana. Hailing from the shores of Seattle, Nirvana would take the music world by storm following the release of their 1991 LP Nevermind. Most notable for their grunge sound forged by the late great Kurt Cobain, Nirvana would change the landscape of rock music over the course of only a few years. For many reasons, Nirvana group signed items are amongst the toughest in all of the hobby, but most notably would be the introverted nature of Cobain that made autograph requests nearly impossible, followed by his untimely and tragic death. Cobain's final work would be the highly anticipated "In Utero" in late September of 1993; the record quickly made its way to the top of the Billboard charts and has since sold 15 million albums worldwide. Reluctant to accept the fame he had risen to, Cobain would find himself in a spiral due to his heroin addiction which led to Cobain taking his life on April 8th, 1994. Due to Cobain's drug use & personal problems, any item signed post 1991 by Cobain are considered an ultimate rarity in the hobby and steadily rising in value. Offered here is one of the finest and most rare pieces of Nirvana memorabilia to ever be auctioned, the CD cover for their final release "In Utero", including signatures from all three original members of Nirvana - Kurt Cobain, David Grohl & Krist Novoselic - in felt tip marker. Overall in fine condition with minor handling wear and a slight smudge to the beginning of Kurt's signature. With Cobain's death occurring only months after In Utero's release, this is possibly one of the last items Cobain ever signed. The rarity cannot be overstated!
