Steve McQueen was the highest paid actor in 1974 and was nicknamed "The King of Cool" for his fearless work on stunts. A man of many accolades, he would win an Academy Award for his role in “The Sand Pebbles” and also starred in “The Magnificent Seven”, “Bullitt” and “The Great Escape”. Contrary to popular belief, McQueen's true "break out" in stunts would be his 1970 film "Le Mans". Only 10% of what is seen in the legendary car chase of "Bullitt" is performed by McQueen, while the rest by stunt drivers. On the contrary, McQueen performed most of the stunts himself in this lesser-known film. Offered here is an 8" x 10" black & white production photograph from "Le Mans" featuring "The King of Cool" in his racing gear, signed by the legend in felt tip marker adding a personalization. Overall in fair condition with minor paper loss, discoloration, pin holes & a horizontal crease along the bottom. The ultimate rarity on McQueen, as signed 8" x 10" photographs seldom surface, with this being the first ever offered by Iconic Auctions. Authenticated by PSA/DNA with a full letter of authenticity.
