While their accomplishments on the baseball diamond can be debated as to which one was the greater player, there is definitely one aspect to the decades old "Ruth vs. Gehrig" debate that is of no argument at all: Gehrig's signature is by far the more rare of the two Yankee legends. While the Babe embraced the spotlight and was known as an accommodating signer right up to his passing, Gehrig favored a less glamorous lifestyle and while accommodating when approached, was a more reclusive signer. Compounded by the fact that Gehrig's life sadly concluded at just 37 years of age (versus Ruth's passing at the age of 53), one can easily see that Gehrig's signature is of extraordinary scarcity. Presented here is an attractive matted display featuring a choice 1.5" x 2.5" ink signature from Gehrig. Gehrig's signature displays extraordinarily well and the slip itself has very few blemishes to speak of. The sheet is tastefully displayed along with an exceptional image of Gehrig in Yankee regalia standing at-bat. A fantastic piece ready to be framed, for a Yankees fan or any baseball collector! The signature has been authenticated by Beckett Authentication Services (BAS) w/ a full Letter of Authenticity.
