Ronnie Van Zant was the influential lead singer of southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. The band would release their first album in 1973, and went onto release another four albums over the subsequent four years, with three of them going double platinum. With songs such as "Sweet Home Alabama" and the epic "Free Bird", there is no doubt as to the band's influence on the genre. Tragically, on October 20, 1977, the band's plane ran out of fuel and crashed into a heavily forested area in Mississippi, killing Van Zant and guitarist Steve Gaines, along with four other members of the band and crew. Offered here is an ultra-rare 8" x 10" promotional photograph of Vant, signed on the reverse in ballpoint pen, "Best Wishes, Ronnie Van Zant". In fine condition with minor handling wear and toning to the reverse of the image, this is by far the nicest autograph from Van Zant that we have ever seen! Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
