Starting the 1967 season, an aged Mickey Mantle would have 496 home runs, an impressive total, but not historic. Mantle would sacrifice his at that time .305 career average, finishing at .298, for power. Swinging for the fences with the intent of reaching 500 & exceeding that historic number. Mantle would appear at the plate quite often with this 1967-68 Hillerich & Bradsby M110 game used offering, exhibiting heavy use as Mears notes, "heavy ball marks scattered on all areas of the barrel, and stitch marks." Although not his most noteworthy of times for the iconic Yankee Slugger, this bat serves as one of the last to be swung by the Commerce Comet as he added to his impressive historic home run total. Overall in fine condition with the bat exhibiting such fine qualities that MEARS original grade of an overall 8 with a 2 point deduction for deadwood & minor chipping to a final grade of GU-6.
