Upper Deck Authenticated enjoyed a coup when they signed Mickey Mantle to an exclusive. What better way to jumpstart an emerging company than with The Mick as one of your top clients. Mantle signed baseballs, bats and even did a few jersey signings with the company from Carlsbad. One of the most coveted jerseys affixed with a UDA hologram is the No. 6 jersey. When Mantle first appeared with the Yankees, he wore No. 6 before going back down to the minors for a little more seasoning. When The Mick resurfaced, he was issued No. 7. Generations knew Mantle as No. 7 but for a short time he wore a different digit.
This flannel jersey is signed by Mantle in black felt tip and inscribed "No. 6". The penning rates a solid "9-10". Sewn on the left sleeve end is an American League silver anniversary patch. Part of a limited edition of 1951, the year the Mick wore number 6, of which this jersey is # 21/1951. Authenticated by UDA (Upper Deck) & a full letter of authenticity from JSA (James Spence Authentication).
