The greatness of Mickey Mantle is truly one of baseball legend. Starting his career with the Yanks in 1951, Mantle would make his mark right off the bat in the biggest stage, the 1951 World Series. Following a "tweener" hit pop up by Willie Mays between DiMaggio & Mantle, the youthful rookie would clip his foot on a loose drain cover, causing a massive scare for the New York Yankees. Offered here is an ULTRA-RARE 4" x 6" black & white magazine photograph depicting what many thought was the end to a career that just began in Mickey Mantle. Signed in bold near-mint felt tip marker by Joe DiMaggio & Mickey Mantle who also adds "1951" inscription. It's worth noting many Yankees fan's recall this moment, but images, let alone signed images, are few and far between with this being the first we have ever encountered. Overall in fine condition with Yogi Berra & Monte Irvin autographing the reverse, another iconic moment from the 1951 series.
