On November 22, 1986 at the Las Vegas Hilton "Iron" Mike Tyson challenged Trevor Berbick for the World Boxing Council heavyweight championship & a chance to make boxing history. Until this bought, Tyson spent two years climbing the ranks bulldozing the under-matched competition knocking out 25 of his 27 opponents. Tyson had already built of a reputation as a feared heavyweight having dexterity achieving stunning knockouts with both hands while dipping and dodging counters. The challenger, Trevor Berbick, entered the ring that night having won the title five months earlier from Pinklon Thomas. With impressive wins over Muhammad Ali, Greg Page and John Tate Berbick stood as the current champ poised to face the 20 year old star. Once the two took the ring, it was easy to see why Mike Tyson was groomed for greatness by long time trainer Cus D'Amato. After feeling his way through the first round, Tyson unleashed a furious attack on Berbick in the second knocking him to the canvas twice. In iconic fashion Tyson would end the fight in the second leaving a beaten and bruised Berbick dazed from the mayhem. Offered here are the fight worn trunks used by Mike Tyson in this legendary historic fight with Trevor Berbick that changed modern boxing as we know it. Propelling a 20 year old into the stardom & boxing history for ever. The size large trunks are black satin with black trim with two front lower legs there are USA and GO AMERICA patches as seen in the fight. The trunks are labeled inside the waist at the waistband, "Tyson-Berbick 11/22/86." Perfectly intact with some slight color fade from natural aging. Easily the most historic boxing item of the post-Ali era with Tyson remaining the youngest Heavyweight Champion to this day with absolutely no one looking posed to challenge the now near 30 year old record. Sold with impeccable provenance including a letter of authenticity from Tyson's early assistant manager Steve Lott who took possession of these historic trunks immediately following the fight. Look no further for a centerpiece, as for the modern boxing collector you will be hard pressed to fine a better item as these truly belong in the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
