An amazingly collectible and unique piece that blends Kurt Cobain's musicianship and passion as an artist, offered here is an orange Dunlop Tortex guitar pick (Cobain's pick of choice throughout his career), uniquely hand signed "Kurdt Kobain" on one side. Used by Cobain in 1990 during Nirvana's early rise and lean times, the pick had been used by Cobain to the point where the Dunlop printed logo and details were rubbed off. After signing the pick and realizing it had been rubbed bare, Cobain flipped the pick over and has added the Dunlap name along with a doodle of a tortoise and the "Tortex" model name.

Accompanying the pick is a detailed Letter of Provenance from the collector who acquired this piece and other relics from the fan who attended an April 6, 1990 concert in Madison, WI and was smart enough to engage the band. Explaining the story behind this incredible acquisition, the Letter of Provenance reads, in part:

Having been a collector for more than 30 years, I had the good fortune of acquiring…Kurt's well-used guitar pick that he both signed and drew a crude turtle (the Dunlop logo for this pick). One of the reasons that this archive is so important is the timing. The individual who acquired these items did so on Friday, April 6, 1990. During the week of April 2, 1990 to April 6, 1990, Nirvana was at Butch Vig's Smart Studios in Madison, Wl. This week was spent recording very early versions of songs that would ultimately end up on "Nevermind." The week ended on Friday night with a show at The Club Underground. The person I obtained these items from resided in Wisconsin and was at that show. He also had numerous posters and flyers from the bands he had seen play at various local venues. He made it a practice to ask whatever band he saw play to sign something; usually the poster or flyer from the show. It seemed to me they were mostly flyer-type posters of bar bands that are long forgotten. In the case of Nirvana, he got along well with the band after the show and remembered that everyone was partying pretty hard….The signed orange Dunlop guitar pick with doodle in this collection came directly from Kurt Cobain. He remembered Kurt taking the pick out of his pocket. What makes this pick so special is that there is every possibility that Kurt used this pick on the Smart

While a few Cobain picks have surfaced over the years, this is the first signed (and sketched) pick we've not only ever handled, but have ever seen! A tremendous relic that is certain to be a centerpiece item for any collection. Accompanied by a Letter of Provenance and a full Letter of Authenticity from music autograph authority Roger Epperson/REAL Authentication.
