Considered by many one of the greatest U.S generals of all-time, Ulyssess S. Grant would see his raise through the ranks all the way to President of the United States. A graduate of West Point, Grant started his service in the Mexican-American War & later in the Civil War, taking control of heated Kentucky & most of Tennessee for the Union. Offered here is a seldom seen 2.5" x 4" CDV photograph of Grant in his General Uniform c. 1865 baring an ULTRA-RARE Abraham Lincoln Mourning Badge on his left arm, signed at the conclusion in striking black ink with "Lt Gen" inscription. It's worth noting this is the first CDV image we have seen signed with Grant supporting the Mourning Badge for President Abraham Lincoln. Housed in an original 8" x 10" vintage frame with a collectors notation on the left side depicting when the item was signed & location. A unique piece of transitional history! Overall in fine condition with the original framing housing the CDV which features minor handling wear. We guarantee this lot to pass PSA/DNA or JSA authentication, and full certification can be arranged for an additional fee (please contact us at info@iconicauctions.com for further details).
