Considered by many to be one of the greatest U.S. generals of all time, Ulysses S. Grant would see his rise through the ranks all the way to the President of the United States. A graduate of West Point, Grant started his service in the Mexican-American War and later in the Civil War, taking control of heated Kentucky and most of Tennessee for the Union. Offered here is a seldom seen CDV photograph of Grant in his General uniform, signed at the conclusion by Grant adding a rare "Lt. Gen. U.S.A." inscription in bold black fountain pen. Overall in fine condition with minor spotting. Authenticated by Beckett/BAS with a full letter of authenticity.
