With the AFL & NFL merging in 1966, the game would be publicly known at that time as “First AFL-NFL World Championship Game” or the “Supergame.” The NFL (now NFC) powerhouse Green Bay Packers led by Bart Starr & Vince Lombardi would take on the best from the AFL (now AFC) in the Kansas City Chiefs. Little did the League & it’s fans know, but the Worlds most watched single sporting game had been born, the Super Bowl. This spectacular team-signed Green Bay Packers 1966 Super Bowl I NFL football is among the nicest to ever be offered for public auction. With forty one (41) stunning signatures in black fountain pen, notables including: Vince Lombardi, Bart Starr, Forrest Gregg, Jim Taylor, Willie Davis, Ray Nitschke, Henry Jordan, Willie Wood & many more! Overall the ball remains in surprisingly good condition, still holding air with its only flaw being minor staining. Personally gifted by Bart Starr to a lucky fan with one panel reading “To Bob, with many thanks, Best Wishes Bart Starr.” Vintage NFL memorabilia has been on the raise, with merger type items such as this seeing a large spike recently.
