A choice piece of Lennon memorabilia that defined the iconic musician’s style in the later years of his life, presented here are a pair of vintage gold finish wire rim glasses that were personally owned and worn by the legendary musician. Identical to the style of glasses worn by Lennon in countless famous photographs, this particular pair originates from fellow famed musician Victor Borge. Borge, an accomplished entertainer who provided piano work to Lennon during his solo years, was gifted two pairs of glasses by Lennon. Borge, apparently not one for nostalgia, eventually sold both pairs of glasses in 1974 to a wealthy Massachusetts family in addition to performing for the family during a private anniversary dinner (the second pair of glasses received by Borge remains in the possession of the family). Accompanying this lot is a Letter of Provenance from the son of the original recipient of the glasses along with an extensive 15-pages of supporting provenance including copies of the following: Receipt for the glasses from Borge’s manager; Borge’s original appearance contract for the private performance; photos of Borge performing at the event, and a number of other related documents. The glasses exhibit moderate signs of wear and aging and are housed in their original vintage case. Previous Lennon glasses with far less providence have sold in the past for $80,000 plus! A tremendous Lennon relic/investment with extensive provenance!
