Typed letter signed, 8.5” x 11,” dated April 21, 1894, and boldly autographed by Theodore Roosevelt as the acting president of the United States Civil Service Commission, “T. Roosevelt.” Addressing the Secretary Board of Examiners in the Post Office of Taunton, MA, Roosevelt writes: “Please advise the Commission as to the exact date on which you entered the names of the eligibles from the February 10 examination on your register…Also please state what action has been taken in the case of Patrick McCabe.” In very good to fine condition, with expected mailing folds and handling wear. Beautifully custom framed, to an overall size of 22" x 26,” along with an engraved description plaque and an image of Roosevelt, in a 3" ornate gold leaf wood frame, triple matted with a tan linen outer mat enhanced with a beautiful gold and chocolate brown suede inner matting. President Harrison appointed Roosevelt to the United States Civil Service Commission, where he served until 1895.
