The influence of Thomas Jefferson cannot be overstated in the youthful days of our country. Even prior to being elected to office, Jefferson would have a profound impact on the ideology of our Founding Fathers. While Jefferson had large shoes to fill , following George Washington & John Adams, he would deliver financing the Lewis & Clark expedition, along with purchasing the cast Louisiana territory from Napoleon. For the collectors who demand quality & excellence, similar to Jefferson, this 1822 hand written letter offering may be the finest penned letter ever offered by the third President. Dated Sept 10, 1822, to George Erving Esq, an American diplomat, believed to be thanking Erving for a recent donation personal collection of Revolutionary War metals to the National Library. Overall the letter remains dark & crisp, stunning in nature, with bold black ink, signed at the conclusion, "TH Jefferson." Overall in fine condition with intersecting folds, discoloration & minor paper loss. It's worth noting this is the first graded 10 autograph of Thomas Jefferson, let alone a hand written letter, graded by Beckett/BAS making this offering quite the rarity! Authenticated & graded GEM MINT 10 by Beckett/BAS authentication.
