Attractive dual signed 1802 Ship's Pass 12" x 18" document for the Ship Exchange of New Bedford, Timothy Wyer master or commander, of the burthen of two Hundred & fifteen tons or thereabouts, mounted with no guns, navigated with fifteen men. To pass with her Company, Passengers, Goods and Merchandize, without any hindrance, seizure or molestation. Signed at the conclusion by President Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of State James Madison, and countersigned by Collector of the Port Ida Pope. Featuring an impressive etching, this is easily the most aesthetically pleasing document we have ever handled from the Jefferson era. Overall in fine condition with intersecting folds & minor staining. Authenticated by Beckett/BAS with a full letter of authenticity.
