Robert Frost was an American poet, arguably the most recognized of the twentieth century. He exploded onto the scene after returning from England at the beginning of WWI. Winner of four Pulitzer Prizes and a special guest at President John F. Kennedy's inauguration, Frost became a poetic force and the unofficial "poet laureate" of the United States. Living in various parts of New England throughout his life, including Vermont and New Hampshire, he cherished rural life and time with nature, and many of his poems depicted travel, farms, or the countryside. Offered here is a 5" x 6" handwritten note by the poet. Reads, in full: "I am sending your book back with this letter. I've written you a new poem in the book. Now I'm off for Boulder Colorado to read a few books along. Best wishes, sincerely yours, Robert Frost". How special to receive an original poem written in a book from the poet laureate of the U.S.! In fine condition, the letter must have been written towards the end of Frost's life, as his age is shown in his shaky yet deliberate handwriting. Contains one vertical and one horizontal fold and minor handling wear.
