Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, serving from 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. Offered here is a seldom seen free franked envelope made out to a Chatham Simms in Jacksonville. Penned by Honest Abe himself adding his signature "A. Lincoln" and his indication of "free" to the top right corner. This is the first free frank from Lincoln that we have ever had the pleasure of offering, and one of less than a dozen Lincoln Congressional Free Franks known to exist! It is house in a gorgeous frame that measures to the size of 31" x 34.5", with additional photos, Presidential seals, and a laser engraved quote make this rare item into an appealing display piece. The frank itself is in overall fine condition with some toning and handling wear. The framed display is in excellent condition. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS), with the signature earning a high grade of MINT 9!
