Here is a stunning fully-signed example of Led Zeppelin’s eighth and final studio album, “In Through The Out Door” released August 15, 1979. The outer sleeve has been signed by Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham and John Paul Jones. All four have executed beautiful signatures in blue ballpoint pen. This is version "C" of the album cover.
This was John Bonham’s private copy, whereby he personally obtained the bandmember signatures, and subsequently donated the signed cover to his son’s, Jason’s, Motocross event in May 1980. It is accompanied by a color photo of Bonham taken at the Motocross event where he donated the signed album as a raffle prize. The verso of the photo is inscribed: "Craig + John Bonham 25/26th May 1980.
Also includes a letter from the winner of the signed album, Robert Johnson. The letter reads: "During the 1980's my sons raced Motocross bikes and were members of the same Wyre Forest School Boy Motocross Club, as Jason Bonham, (John Bonham's Son) the Drummer of Led Zeppelin. One of the events was sponsored by John Bonham who donated all the prizes. Being the signed LPs. "In Through The Out Door" and "Presence". I confirm that I won 2nd prize in the raffle, the 1st prize being Gold Disc Record of "Swan Song" and the 2nd being the records above. Also with this lot are two photographs personally signed on the margin by John Bonham. All these items were signed 24th/25th May 1980 at the event. I confirm that these are genuine articles."
Fully-signed Led Zeppelin albums are exceedingly scarce. This is a stunning cover-signed example of Led Zeppelin’s final studio album, gifted directly by John Bonham just months before his tragic death.
