On Opening Day of baseball in 1938, the sport's most illustrious figure retracted his pronouncement that he'd never again set foot in a Major League ballpark in order to help spread the word of the approaching New York City World's Fair. Offered here is a 6.5" x 8" image snapped at the Polo Grounds on that day, featuring Babe Ruth as well as the president of the New York World Fair Corporation (Grover Whalen), future Hall of Famer Bill Terry, Christy Walsh, Ed Barrow, Jacob Ruppert, and noted Sports journalist Dick Walsh (Christy Walsh's brother). The photo is affixed to a cardboard backing and has been trimmed down from its original size to create a single signed Ruth photograph. In fine condition. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
