Typed letter, 8” x 10,” boldly signed at the conclusion in ink by Roosevelt as Governor of New York. The December 12, 1931 letter to Erwin Sibley, Esq. of Georgia reads, in part “Your suggestion as to the proper attitude with regard to the Prohibition Amendment is exceedingly interesting, but I am afraid that the voters will demand something a little more definitive than that.” Matted and framed with a photo of Roosevelt to an overall size of 18.25” x 14.75.” In fine condition with some scattered document wear. Accompanied by a typed onionskin correspondence from Sibley to which FDR was responding and also by a JSA LOA. “Prohibition”—the banning of liquor, was the law of the land in the US from 1920 through to 1933—and two years after penning this correspondence, FDR would be the President to repeal the unpopular decree. Very scarce and desirable “Prohibition” content letter relative to an important move in his own future Presidency.
