In the American imagination, the founding era shimmers as the golden age of political discourse, a time when the common man held their ground & helped pioneer this great country. George Washington & Thomas Jefferson shared an extensive amount of time together during those golden years, helping to provide the backbone of the government we have today. One a simple man, a planter/soldier of no formal education, the other a philosopher, inventor and student at the College of William and Mary. Despite the differences of these two great leaders' upbringings, some of their best works came during their time together in the late 1700's, helping to inspire such staples as The Bill of Rights, The 11th/12th Amendment & of course the Declaration of Independence. This seldom seen offering features the two founding fathers together c.1793 during Washington's term as President & Jefferson's role as Secretary of State. Stunning large and crisp ink signatures, “Go: Washington,” and “Th: Jefferson,” on an ULTRA-RARE full-sized 13" x 16" four language ship's pass document. The document was issued to "Thomas Horton, master or commander of the Schooner called Robin, of the burthen of 68 tons or thereabouts, lyinc at present in the port of Philad, bound for Hispaniola and laden with Provisions." Dated June 21st, 1793, the rarity of such a document from the original presidential administration of the United States absolutely cannot be overstated. Signatures are beautifully in nature with President Washington's a tad bolder than Jefferson's, as was typical. Overall in excellent condition given the age with minor staining, surface impressions & two vertical folds. The Presidential seal next to their signatures remains intact. Incredibly well-preserved. Framed beautifully to a total size of 20" x 40.5", worthy of display in any home, office, or museum. Don't miss out on this potentially once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of U.S. history dating to its infancy. Authenticated by Beckett Authentication Services (BAS) with a full Letter of Authenticity.
