Handwritten letter on one page of 4.5” x 7” white “The Players, 16 Gramercy Park” stationary dated Feb 2, 1894 and signed at the conclusion in black ink, “Truly Yours, Mark Twain.” Correspondence to Reverend Thos. E. Green of Cedar Rapids, Iowa reads, in part: “I send it with pleasure; but you’d better quarantine it a spell, for I do think that this Club is one of the very worldliest places I’ve ever struck.” In fine condition. Also included is the original envelope hand-addressed by Twain. Accompanied by a JSA LOA. A notable NYC private social club founded in 1888 by actor Edwin Booth, “The Players” counted Twain amongst their most celebrated patrons.
