Orville Wright Signed 1922 Check to Explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson (PSA/DNA)

This 6" x 12' Bank Check dated August 15th, 1922, has been personally signed by Orville Wright in black ink. Check is written entirely in Orville's hand to Vihljalmur Stefansson in the amount of $3000.00 and is endorsed by Stefanssen. Known as "Steph" to Katherine & Orville Wright, Stef had reached out to the Wright's for financial assistance to hire a ship to reach a 5-person settlement associated with the 1921 Wrangel Island expedition and this check represents the Wrights portion. When a ship finally arrived in 1923, of the five, only one survivor remained.

Overall in fine condition. Professionally framed to an overall size of 20" x 24". The check has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA.
