The first record David Bowie made was as lead singer of "Davie Jones & the King Bees" on the single "Liza Jane"/"Louie Louie Go Home", which came out in June 1964, when Bowie was only 17 years old. Bowie was still going by his first name of David Jones at this point, and playing Rolling Stones-style rock with the King Bees. The music was a long way from what Bowie would become famous for in the '70s, nonetheless, Davie Jones & the King Bees attracted interest of the manager who would produce their first single. Although shunned as worthless by some Bowie biographers, it wasn't a bad effort, with Bowie singing and playing saxophone, an instrument he would rarely return to in his lengthy career. The single didn't go anywhere, and Bowie left the King Bees shortly thereafter. Offered here is a very rare, perhaps one-of-a-kind, 4" x 6.5" album page signed by David Bowie as "Davie Jones" and five other King Bees - Bob Allen, Dave Howard, David Robert Jones, George Underwood, and Roger Bluck. All signed in red ballpoint pen. Davie Jones autographs from Bowie are extremely rare and sought after, and this may be the only group signed King Bees page in existence! The album page exhibits scattered toning and staining but the autographs remain extremely bold. Authenticated & encapsulated by PSA/DNA.
