George Washington's contribution to the foundation of the United States of America cannot be overstated. Something else that can't be overstated is the rarity and investment potential of his autograph. With virtually everything bearing his penmanship being absorbed by museums and institutions, Washington's signature has been elevated to the mythical status that it so properly deserves. With that said, we are proud to present this partial printed velum undated 21" x 15" Society of Cincinnati document signed at the conclusion by President George Washington. With the Society founded in 1783, it served as a selective grouping of Continental military officers who served the last two years of the Revolutionary War. Washington would naturally be elected as the first President General of the Society and served until his death in 1799, to be succeeded by Alexander Hamilton in a prestigious passing of the torch. Overall in good condition with minor curling to the edges, handling wear, discoloration & scattered staining. Easily one of the finest Society of Cincinnati documents to surface as most are in poor to very poor condition. Authenticated by Beckett/BAS with a full letter of authenticity.
