The 1996 New York Yankees would start a new era in Major League Baseball history, one which MLB had seen in the past - the beginning of another New York Yankees dynasty. Signed items from the 1996 teams are a bit different from their later counterparts, with no known official team signings. The lack of Steiner Sports signing contracts for the Yankees in this time makes these rookie-era Rivera & Jeter relics highly desirable. On August 25, 1996, the New York Yankees honored one of the best to ever wear pinstripes, Mickey Mantle, following his untimely death. During that game, only a few of the limited edition Mickey Mantle Day OAL baseballs were used in play. The Yankees signed a handful of the extra unused balls that day for family & friends, and they seldom appear on the market. Offered here is one of those extreme rarities, signed by 11 members of the dynasty-starting team in blue ballpoint pen. Signatures include Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Darryl Strawberry, Paul O'Neill, Joe Girardi, Andy Pettitte (SS), Cecil Fielder, Bernie WIlliams, and David Cone. Overall this rare & desirable offering remains in fine condition with minor toning. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
