Kenesaw Mountain Landis served as Major League Baseball's first Commissioner from 1920 until his death in 1944. He is most remembered for his handling of the Black Sox scandal, in which he expelled eight members of the Chicago White Sox from organized baseball for conspiring to lose the 1919 World Series. His firm actions and iron rule over baseball in the near quarter-century of his are generally credited with restoring public confidence in the game after its greatest scandal. Despite Landis' tremendous historical relevance, autographs of any sort are extremely seldom seen - and this is unlike any other we have offered - an Official National League baseball signed on the sweet spot by the Original Commish! The ball exhibits moderate toning and handling wear throughout, with evidence of a removal on the north panel along with shallack throughout with a heavy layer to the top. However, the autograph and stamping both stand out boldly, and the rarity of such a specimen cannot be overstated. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
