Malcolm X was an American Muslim minister and human rights activist. To his admirers he was a courageous advocate for the rights of blacks, a man who indicted white America in the harshest terms for its crimes against black Americans; detractors accused him of preaching racism and violence. He has been called one of the greatest and most influential African Americans in history. This postcard from New York City was written to Gloria Owens, sister of Maceo X Owens, who was secretary of MTI #7 (Muhammad's Temples of Islam) in NYC, where Malcolm X was a minister alongside Louis Farrakhan. Malcolm X sent Owens postcards regularly of landmarks and poignant depictions of African-Americans from his travels in the U.S. and abroad. The postcard, dated October 22, 1958, is completely written in Malcolm X's hand and signed at the conclusion "Malcolm X". In fine condition with typical postmark stampings and handling wear. Authenticated & encapsulated by Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
